I thought that my experience at Woodstock '99 was a wild time. I think I have stumbled on a yearly event that tops anything I have ever been to before. August 28 - September 4, 2006 Black Rock Desert, Nevada is host to the Burning Man. The burning man was a homage to the summer solstice that began in San Francisco in 1986 with an 8 foot tall constructed man and 20 people. Over the years the statue of the man grew taller and the crowd grew larger and in 1990 the burning Man was forced to move to the Black Rock Desert in Nevada. As years went by the statue grew 80 feet high and themes were incorporated into the project. Last year over 35,500 artists, freaks, and spectators made the pilgrimage. This year the art theme is "Hope and Fear: The Future.", "wherein we explore how we create futurity, manifested as an expression of the promise of our hopes, and the contractions of our fears." Tickets are on sale for the 2006 Burning Man and are selling out fast. Be part of the experience, celebrate life and the summer solstice.
